H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, said the unification of the UAE Armed Forces was a historic decision and a turning point in the UAE’s journey towards ensuring its prosperity, security and stability, embodying the wise vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and other Founding Fathers.

In his speech on the occasion of the annual Armed Forces Unification Day observed on 6th May, Sheikh Hamdan stressed that the country’s leadership aims to continue to advance the capabilities of the UAE Armed Forces, being the nation’s defensive shield, and is keen to prioritise the development of its human resources.

"Today, we are celebrating the achievements of the UAE Armed Forces both locally and internationally. The Armed Forces have proven their capacity and efficiency in carrying out numerous military, humanitarian and peacekeeping operations, helping to support global peace and security, as well as the country’s sustainable development, and promoting patriotism among citizens," Sheikh Hamdan said.

He pointed out that all these successes would not have been achieved without the leadership’s belief in the essential role of the Armed Forces in protecting the country and its gains, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

"As we celebrate the Armed Forces Unification Day, we reiterate our pride of and appreciation for the advanced level of our Armed Forces, and we commemorate the martyrs of our Armed Forces who courageously passed away while defending the country," he said.

On the occasion, Sheikh Hamdan congratulated President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, and Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, and the Emirati people.
