Al Dhafrah Region constitutes a precious and important part of our homeland. It is a place of great historical significance and a pillar from which the Emirate of Abu Dhabi has emerged. It represents more than 80% of the total area of the Emirate and accounts for 45% of the gross domestic product (GDP). It has a hugely important role in preserving our heritage, as it is home to numerous families and tribes who play an active role in the welfare, prosperity and glory of the nation.
Dear brothers and sisters...
On the 13th of June 2009, I was appointed by the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafrah Region.
Inspired by His Highness’ statement: “The real wealth of the UAE lies in the citizen who actively contributes to the progress and development march with hard work and a solid belief in the principles of citizenship and loyalty”, the top priority on the agenda is to secure prosperity and stability for the citizens in the six major cities in Al Dhafrah Region: Madinat Zayed, Liwa, Al Marfaa, Ghayathi, Silah and Delma Island, as well as in the other cities, villages and small communities.
Development in the region is intended to be responsible and sustainable, taking into consideration the importance of protecting the environment, maintaining its identity, encouraging population increase and developing economic growth.
I noticed through my regular tours and visits to the region, as well as through meetings with citizens and officials, that the government’s efforts have reached an advanced level of maturity in line with the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030. Most of the region’s departments have their own structure and independence to best serve the citizens’ interests, so that the region and its citizens will always live up to the expectations of the principal architect of our development, and founder of our country, the late father Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (may Allah the almighty rest his soul in eternal peace) who dedicated his life to improving quality of life for residents in the region.
Through the new website of the Office of the Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafrah Region, I would like to open a new means of communication with nationals, to develop a comprehensive vision for Al Dhafrah Region, and to set up the necessary principles, policies and programmes in its best interests. Your brothers in the Office of the Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafrah Region are honoured to be supporting these leading projects and to be carrying out this continuous improvement.
We will strive to utilise all the resources available to serve the interests of our citizens and our nation, to support all efforts in this regard, and to provide all forms of support required by national initiatives and projects.
In conclusion, I would like to extend my best wishes to all who are sincere to this country, and I ask Allah to help them achieve the country’s ambitions and aspirations in the present and in the future.
We pray for Allah to protect our great leaders and our dear country, and to support all efforts aimed at further developing it so that it may occupy a worthy place among the world’s most developed nations.
